*INFArena by Pathetico : This mutator override the user chosen loadouts, so the teams will be forced to use specific loadouts; for example only pistols, M16 against MP5, only hand grenades and more. After installing (in UnrealTournament/System) click on Mutators choose one of the INFArena variants. |

*Random Team Spawn by Khutan: This mutator let the teams start at random locations that give variation and longer life for any map. Just be aware of that the bots sometimes can spawn on a location where the bot-pathing wont work that well (they won't move much) since the pathing ain't designed for spawn there. That would not necessary be something bad; personally I think its quite fun to be forced to go searching for the enemy. What's worse it that your or a bot sometimes can spawn right on a mine... You activate this mutator as usual by first click on Mutators (After installing in UnrealTournament/System of course) |
TIP FOR DOM-VERSION: |
-->Recommended number of reinforcements = about 4 (For INF newbies: Lives are called Reinforced in Infiltration. One life/round= 0 Reinforcement. 5 lives = 4 reinforcements). -->Recommended mutators: Khutan's RandomTeamSpawn: I strongly recommend this mutator in the DOM-versions since it get rid of the problem with enemies spawn behind your back and make the game flow more realistic where your team secure one area after another in a linear way. Pathetico's INFArena |
|
TIP FOR DM-VERSION: |
-->Recommended number of reinforcements = standard 0 (=1 life/round). -->Recommended mutators: Khutan's RandomTeamSpawn Pathetico's INFArena |
|
TIP FOR CTF-VERSION: |
-->Recommended number of reinforcements = about 4 (=5 lives). -->Recommended mutators: Pathetico's INFArena You should NOT use the mutator Khutan's RandomTeamSpawn in the CTF-version. |
|
TIP FOR AS-VERSION: |
-->Recommended number of reinforcements = about 4 (=5 lives). -->Recommended mutators: Pathetico's INFArena It could be a bit strange to use the mutator Khutan's RandomTeamSpawn in the AS-version = NOT recommended. |
DESIGN HISTORY BEHIND THIS MAP: I got the idea to do a simple, quick and dirty map without any bigger aesthetics ambitions, focusing on testing my mapping concept - the easy discover - easy cover-mapping concept to the limit. My idea was simple; an OPEN environment with really a lot of cover, lot of LOW cover = the combatants will easy discover each other but can still take advantage of cover. LOW cover means you are visible when standing but have cover when crouching. Practically this means you can choose playerstyle; crouch much if you wanna play tactical and run and gun if you want fast brain purging action! Personally I think a combination are both the most funniest play style and at the same time tactically most effective. Anyway; back to the construction of the map: To achieve something playable fast I decided to use a existing map as base and mostly just move things around. I found ShootingRange suitable for my needs and attacked it and did some tests that worked quite well. The feeling of the map turned out to be some kind of arena; like a military training area or if you wanna be not that serious, gladiator arena where modern soldiers can fight! Like a bad(?) movie: Two military teams fight each other to death in an arena... Brutal and absurd but, kind of fun when it's not for real... After that first beta the map has evolved a lot but still should Bastard'O the author of DM-INF-ShootingRange have lot of cred for the basic environment.
CREDITS: Major credit to Bastard'O author of DM-INF-ShootingRange, the base for this map. Also big credits to everybody in the Infiltration community who have helped me on different problems. Credit to John McMuffin Yerkes for him to allow me to borrow the gras from his map DM-INF-MiddleOfNowhere. Credit to Pathetico for him letting me distribute his weapon mutator INFArena and to Khutan for him letting me distribute his mutator RandomTeamSpawn.
