What is the Excessive FireMode Toggle
This is an added feature for Excessive. With the translocator selected, you can toggle between a LOCATE and a LAUNCH beacon. The locate is similar to the standard locator. The launch gives the player the velocity of the flying puck. With the Dual Assault Rifles selected, you can toggle between BOUNCY and EXPLODE on impact grenades.
How do I bind the Excessive Firemode Toggle
The firemode toggle can be bound in the standard UT2004 controls menu as long as you have the full download of excessive. You can also bind it manually in the user.ini:
Aliases[x]=(Command="button bSwitchFireMode| ExcessiveFireMode",Alias="ExcessiveFireMode")
x being the next available unassigned alias in your user.ini. For me, it was 30. Make sure you do not have 2 instances of one alias, otherwise the bind will not work. After adding this alias, you will need to bind the alias to a key, for instance, scrolling down from that line in the user.ini, I decided to bind it to my middle mouse button
MiddleMouse=ExcessiveFireMode
How do I set which weapon I start with, and switch to after I run out of ammo
In the ExcessiveV3Config.ini, you can set weapon priorities. The higher the priority, the more priority the weapon has. In other words, the weapon with the highest priority number will be the weapon you start with. This is contolled Client Side.
I see players flying through the air with ease, how do they do that
This is called weapon jumping. Being able to launch off of your own projectiles is a feature of Excessive. With self damage and falling damage turned off, this becomes a necessary skill for any player. Most weapons have jumping capability, but they all differ in effectiveness... just point down and shoot at your feet.
What is the noise I keep hearing when I hit players? Can I disable this?
This is another feature of excessive. The noise you hear are hit sounds. These are there to help you to know that you are actually hitting someone through all the carnage. There are 2 sounds, one for hitting an opponent, and one for hitting your own team. Both of these are able to be changed by the client. Start UT2004, and go to the instant action menu. Then go to the mutator tab menu. Highlight ExcessiveV3 in the mutator list, and a "configure" button will appear in the lower right of your screen. Click that and then click on the Client tab menu for the Excessive Menu. Here you can choose your hit sounds from a dropdown list, control the volume, and even set your own custom hit sound that you have imported to a *.uax. To disable them, just turn the volume down to 0.
How can I disable a certain weapon on my server?
You can uncheck any weapon you wish to not use on your server through the ExcessiveV3 mutator configuration menu which was described above. You can also set this in the ExcessiveV3Confi.ini. You will see entries like:
bKeepFlameThrower=True
Set this to false to disable this weapon. ( Also useful to enable a new weapon in this disabled weapon slot with another mutator )
I found a bRealisticRockets setting in my ExcessiveConfig.ini. What does that setting do?
This is a feature that is turned off by default and controlled server side. This makes rockets behave realistically. When fired, your rockets will take on your velocity as well as their own acceleration. This makes it much harder to aim with and was a little to real for Unreal ;)
How do some players seem to move faster with the translocator?
The Excessive Translocator now has 2 firemodes, the TransLOCATOR and the TransLAUNCHER. The Translocator operates very much the same as the normal UT2004 Translocator, in that you appear whereever the 'beacon' is when you translocate. The TransLauncher operates much differently, when you translocate with the TransLauncher, you take on the 'beacons' velocity, so you are basically catapulted through the sky. To switch the firemodes, please refer to the section about FireMode toggle binding.
I saw a player disappear without any of the Translocator effects, is he cheating?
No, he is using the Teleport Combo, included with Excessive. To activate it, you need to have at least 50 adrenaline. The key combo for the Teleport is Right-Up-Right-Up (or if you are like me, you can just mash Up and Right one after the other)
A player seemed to have all the combos running at once, how did he do that?
That is the Insane Combo, included with Excessive. It requires 150 Adrenaline to activate. The key combo for Insane is Left-Right-Left-Right( or just mash Left and Right, one after the other ). Warning: Because of the key combo, it is very easy to activate it while simply dodging fire, so be careful, because Insane burns up adrenaline fast
I saw a Redeemer missle firing rockets! How do I do that?
First, get the Redeemer(duh), then press alt-fire to pilot it manually, while piloting, press Fire to launch rockets just like the rocket launcher. You can fire no more than 30 rockets, which are deducted from the number of rockets fired off when the Redeemer missle blows up.
How do I blow up the Redeemer when I'm piloting it, ( aka Redeemer Warhead )?
Either crash it into a wall/ground/player or press the Jump button.
I got killed by Player's rockets when there was no one near me. How'd he do that?
Get the Redeemer and fire it with the Fire button. It spawns 30 enemy-seeking rockets on impact
How did Player have a shield all around him?
That is the new Shield of the Excessive Shield Gun. Select the Shield Gun and press AltFire. This will protect you from most weapons for the duration of your ammo, reflecting back a high percentage of the differet ammo types.
Help!! I'm on fire! How do I put it out?
Select the ShieldGun and press AltFire for the shield
