INTRODUCTION
Voice Packs are on of my favorite end-user made modifications for computer games. They add a layer of color and personality to the game, and help to immerse the player into the game's world. Unreal Tournament 2004Community Voice Pack 1, or CVP1 for short, is a compilation of VPs that the Unreal mod community has made over the years, much a like the various map and skin packs that have been published. There are 18 VPs in this compilation. Some of these were created for the original UT game and have been ported over to the new one.

There will be a CVP2, and these compilations may be ported over to future iterations of Unreal Tournament. If you would like to contribute your Voice Pack to the project, then please go to the
CVP Web site and contact the project leader. You may also register in the forums, too. If you are interested in contributing but don't know how to make a VP, then we would be happy to help you.

The following table shows the contents of CVP1. You can click the author's name to open your E-Mail client and send a message to them. For more info about each Voice Pack, please read the files located in the \Help\CVP1 subdirectory. All the original "Read Me" documents have been included in this CVP.

INSTALLATION:
All of the files are organized into folders within the archive. When you extract them, it is easiest to activate your archival softwares' folder handling option. In WinZip, this would be labeled as "Use folder names". In WinRAR this would be "Extract relative paths".

1. Extract all files from the archive into the base \UT2004 directory. Place all .INT, .U and .UPL files in the \System subdirectory. All .UKX files go into \Animations. All .UTX files go into \Textures. All other files go into \Help or \Help\CVP1

2. Run UT2004.

3. To select the voice for your character model, click Settings then the Player tab. In the drop-down control menu box labeled Voice Type, select one of the following voices. Note that they are alphabatized by the file name, not the title.

Aussie
BetaTester
)3illy Voice Pack v1.0
Chester v1.0
DeadEye
FemmeBot200Four
Kanser
Lopar-XL v1.3
New Yawker v1.0

4. To select a voice for a bot, first click Instant-Action mode from main menu. In the control menu box labeled "Bot Mode" choose "Use Bot Roster". The Bot Config menu tab should appear. Click it and scroll through your list with the arrow buttons to find the bot you want. Click on its portrait and then click the Edit button. From there you can change the bot's voice in the same maner as you would the Playe's voice.

If you're running a server and want to use these VPs, you'll need to make the following changes. THIS IS ONLY NECESSARY IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON USING THIS VP ON A SERVER!

2. Run the following command to rebuild your server's valid package list:

UCC MASTERMD5 -c *.U

If you are have trouble hearing the Voice Packs, then I suggest you check your volume levels in your operating system, in UT2004 and your speakers or headphones. I suggest you increase the volume controls for your sound card to maximum output. This could be labeled as "Main", "Wave", "What U Hear" or something else in your sound control panel. Also increase the volume output in UT2004 to maximum. The volume slider for sound effects also controls the voices. This way, you can control your volume using only the controls on your speakers or headphones.
